This is a video extract from the performance of Assume Vivid Astro Focus & La Chatte at Dissonanze 2010 – Chiostro del Bramante – that we contributed to set up. Crutches have never been so useful.
In the past autumn the second issue of “Cujo” was released. Entitled Primitive, it was by Apichatpong Weerasethakul and it could be considered the secret origin of the homonym multiplatform project brought to end with the movie, Cannes Golden Palm winner, Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. It’s a book of 480 pages, looks like an imaginary guide of the experience that Apichatpong lived in a little village in the northwest of Korea. Reading it, you get the feeling to hear a story already begun about a sensitive man who had to do with jungle, ghosts, primitive cults, mysterious traditions and teenagers wearing adidas tracksuits and All-Star. Now it’s the right time to check it out.
Here you can watch the short film Letter to Uncle Boonmee, part of the multi-platform Primitive project. Boonmee is the main character of the feature film of the project.

Gavin Brown’s enterprise
Gavin Brown’s enterprise (GBE) announces the restaging of Jonathan Horowitz’s widely acclaimed 2002 exhibition “Go Vegan!” Originally presented at Greene Naftali Gallery, this major installation work will be updated by the artist using eco friendly materials for a new, very particular site: the former butchery of storied meat purveyor Pat LaFrieda Meats, which stands adjacent to GBE at 601 Washington Street. Opening May 9th, “Go Vegan!” takes the form of a full-scale, multi room environment. The work includes a portrait gallery of more than 200 celebrity vegetarians, from philosopher and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson to late comic Andy Kaufman, whose images have been downloaded from the Internet; a gallery of animal portraits; a video installation featuring film footage of Paul McCartney and his late wife Linda Eastman McCartney, as well as footage of commercial animal slaughter; and a Minimalist sculpture of a cube of tofu. By turns violent and comical, the project is a vivid, engaging and forthright attack on complacency. (more…)
