Limited Artist’s Edition: The Dry Salvages

NERO has just released the limited artist’s edition of The Dry Salvages, by Elisabetta Benassi. The original book is a part of the project The Dry Salvages, produced for the exhibition vice versa, curated by Bartolomeo Pietromarchi: The Italian Pavilion at the the 55th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia, 2013.

The items published in the book are the 10,000 largest space debris in orbit around the Earth, and have been selected by the artist from the public version of the NORAD (North American Aerospace Defence Command) Space Object Catalogue started in 1957. They make up an unusual archive of the human presence in space.

The artist’s edition is a compact wooden box, containing the artist’s book and a one of the ten thousand bricks from the Venice Biennale project, representing a unique piece of space debris. It’s an edition of 50 copies, and each copy comes with a signed certificate from the artist herself.
