Art Conversations – Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi

The second round of the series “Art Conversation” will take place with the artists of the Pinault Collection. Thursday, December 12th, 2013 at 18:00 at the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi, the art critic and curator Filipa Ramos will converse with the American artist Theaster Gates, one of the protagonists of the exhibition “Prima Materia,” curated by Caroline Bourgeois and Michael Govan.

Theaster Gates was born in 1973 in Chicago, where he lives and works. His artistic practice includes sculpture, performance, installation, and urban interventions as well as social engagement. He is currently present in the exhibition Prima Materia at Punta della Dogana with works evoking civil rights, immigration and the african-american community.

He will talk with Filipa Ramos, an art critic and guest curator at several public and private exhibition spaces. She is currently teaching in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts of IUAV – University of Venice and in the Experimental Film MA program of Kingston University, London.

Entrance is free until capacity is reached.
