This third conference will be held next Thursday, March 27, at 6pm: Philippe-Alain Michaud meets Laurent Montaron

The talk will be available through a live stream on NEROMAGAZINE.IT (follow this LINK) and on the website of Palazzo Grassi.

The origins of film is a cycle of three conferences and screenings curated by Philippe-Alain Michaud, curator at the Centre Pompidou, and organized in collaboration with the University Iuav in Venice, Dipartimento di Culture del Progetto – Laboratorio di teoria delle immagini.  These three events represent an opportunity to explore the origins of cinematic production through the works of three contemporary artists-filmmakers, who often get around the history of cinema and find inspiration in the history of painting, in anthropology and in exact sciences.

Born in 1972 in Verneuil-sur-Avre, France, Laurent Montaron currently lives and works in Paris, France. His artistic practice is interdisciplinary (films, installations, photography, acoustic equipment) and is concerned with the relationship between reality and the perception of time and space the public has through recording and reproduction devices. He also subverts cinema’s narrative conventions, thereby disrupting the reading of the work and underlining the interpretation process the spectator has to go through.

From Friday 28 to Monday 31, March from 10am to 7pm
Screening of a two of the artist’s films
