On Friday 17 April from 7-8pm, the performance UN EVENTO PICCOLO MA SIGNIFICATIVO (A Small but Significant Event) will take place with Lee WenMyriam Laplante, and Mike Cooper at the gallery La Nube di Oort in Rome.

Mike Cooper will recreate a sound performance – which he did not attend – given recently by David Toop as part of a series of performances within the installation by Christian Marclay at the White Cube Gallery in London. His performance will be a personal sonic response to a short video clip of part of David Toop’s performance posted on Facebook and to Christian’s audio visual piece titled Pub Crawl – which he has not seen either.  Lee Wen will respond to Mike Cooper’s response to an event that he hasn’t attended either and Myriam Laplante will respond to Lee Wen’s response to Mike Cooper’s response to an event that she hasn’t attended either.

Lee Wen is a multidisciplinary artist, a pioneer of performance in Singapore, a dreamer. His work of performance, writing, drawing, and song, is a constant reflection on society, motivated by strong idealism and a revolutionary impetus.

Myriam Laplante is a Canadian artist who lives and works in Bevagna, in a state of permanent doubt. His work is a parody of the world, absurd and cynical, sad and disturbing. His performances, installations, sculptures, photographs, and drawings have been extensively presented in occupied spaces, galleries, and museums in Europe, North America, and Asia.

Mike Cooper – For over 50 years, the  English singer-guitarist Mike Cooper makes maps, in solitude and with other innovators in the international scene, of unexplored spaces of avant-garde sound. In addition to being a visual artist, he is a collector of Hawaiian shirts and a music journalist, specializing in music and musicians of the Pacific, and appears as a musician in over 60 discs.
