Continuing her trilogy of exhibitions on chess  – at S.M.A.K. Gent, the Wittgenstein House in Vienna and the Dvir Gallery in Tel Aviv – artist Sarah Ortmeyer will display a series of portraits of women who have achieved recognition of the Grand Master or who have won the title of champion of the chess world at the Istituto Svizzero di Roma.
In front of the windows of three adjacent rooms, inside the Swiss Institute, you will find eleven paintings of the Exchequer, representing portraits of the best international players. Susan Polgar in blue (SUSAN I-V), Alexandra Kosteniuk in red (ALEXANDRA I-IV) and Natalia Pogonina (NATALIA I-III) that shines in white.
The MACHO Amore series showcases drawings that come from work Grandmasters World Champions, large-scale prints depicting the most important women players who make love with the camera (GRANDMASTER I-XII and WORLD CHAMPION I-IX).
In contrast to the previous work – in which the identity of the sports seductresses remained hidden – this current series portrays every player as a single piece, in the spirit of Destiny’s Child.
