Sensibile Comune at La Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Rome
Sensibile Comune – Le opere vive is an exhibition curated by Ilaria Bussoni, Nicolas Martino and Cesare Pietroiusti at La Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome (La Galleria Nazionale) from 14 – 22 January 2017. The exhibition has been conceived for the occasion of the C17. The Rome Conference on Communism (18 – 22 January 2017).
20 works have been selected from the permanent collection of La Galleria Nazionale and 20 artists have been invited to engage with these, including Claire Fontaine, Gian Maria Tosatti, Davide D’Elia, Fiamma Montezemolo, Danilo Correale, Domenico Antonio Mancini, Giuliano Lombardo, Dora Garcia, Rene Gabri e Ayreen Anastas, Rossella Biscotti, Kinkaleri, Elisabetta Benassi, Cristina Kristal Rizzo, Pablo Echaurren.
The exhibition, which has evolved out of the work of the journal OperaViva Magazine and a seminar organised by La Fondazione Lac e La Mon, includes 6 sections: opere all’ennesima e opere incurabili (relating to the works of La Galleria Nazionale), opere in lotta (with presentations of the archives – Archivio Valle, Macao, Sale Docks – and a digital archive based on an open source software for the creation of a network of archives from below), opere in fuga (projections), opere in costruzione (works created during the exhibition, amongst which a a musical improvisation by Michele Rabbia, Ludovico Takeshi Minasi, Daniele di Buenaventura) and opere in contemplazione (sensorial dissonances from natural wine with Giampalo Gravina and Armando Castagno, from the night sky with Franco Piperno and the garden with Lucilla Zanazzi and Andrea Di Salvo).
Performances, screenings, debates, poetic readings as well as a sleep concert by Matteo Nasini (Saturday 21 January 2017) animate the spaces of La Galleria Nazionale for an entire week.

From Tuesday 18 Janaury C17. The Rome Conference on Communism will run parallel to Sensibile Comune in two locations in Rome: ESC Atelier and La Galleria Nazionale. Each day one main conference and one workshop will take place, focusing on one of following five topics – Communisms, Critique of Political Economy, Who are the Communists?, Comunist Powers, Communism of the Sensibile.
Thinkers, researchers and activists from around the world will gather in Rome for five days on the hundreth anniversary of the October Revolution to address the history of achieved and imagined communisms, their victories and setbacks, contemporary capital, communists today, communist practices, power, state, government communal aesthetics, aesthetic communism and communism of the “Sensibile.”
