On Wednesday December 13th at 7.30pm, Carola Spadoni with Tomaso Binga, Paola Gandolfi and Anna Raimondo presents the performance Peregrine on the Rocks at Municipal Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art. The event is included within the cycle Mapping the Town–SIX Performances in Rome’s Musea, curated by Claudio Libero Pisano, in collaboration with Orlando Edizioni.

“I just found myself in a rocky place, dark and sturdy, surrounded by images that claim to be liked, surrounded by imposing features. Should I recognize them? Should I befriend them? Should I adapt? A wandering on the rocks please, with salt.”

Carola Spadoni has invited three generations of Italian women to take over the rooms of the Municipal Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome. The museum collection includes works that represent the most significant moments of the Italian art from the late nineteenth century to the Second World War, yet artworks are mainly made by men.

With this project, the artist let these female artists wander in a landscape of still lifes–nature morte, enhancing the contrast between the female dynamicity and the stiffness of male modern painting present in the gallery. Established artists Tomaso Binga and Paola Gandolfi will perform live while the sound piece made by emergent artist Anna Raimondo will resonate in the same space. As artists involved within a feminine discourse, they will become subject and object of a lively mix, as fizzy as a fresh cocktail, with salt.
