Last chance to see the group show entitled Rosina#1 Spectrum, curated by Giuliana Benassi at Limone Space, in London. All the participating artists are Italian or connected to Italy through their research and artistic exchanges. They were invited to present the work interpreting the nature of the exhibition space: a place in continuous transformation and full of interferences destined to be turned into something else.

The title Spectrum refers to the Latin origins of the term (image, specter, vision, apparition). By doing so, it seeks to recuperate its floating significance between the concrete presence of an image and others manifold worldly dimensions. Since the artworks are by definition characterized by different languages, this approach attempts to create new ways of bringing the works in dialogue with each other. The aim or objective is to seek a shift in the way we look at artistic practice in general, as the transformation of an image and the tensions between the life we live and the visions that appear.

The backdrop for the show is East London, where a particular artistic community has emerged animating buildings fallen into disuse. As spectral presences they appear and disappear, rely on unpredictability, their role a permanent interruption without warning. In this collection of everyday life the works of the artists transform the space into an expositive container, meeting place, known ambiguity. Accepting the characteristics of the environment, the works in this show constitute an exhibition itinerary and tell a vision, reflecting upon themselves, they refer to each other: they become spectrums in a changing landscape.

The show was organised with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute of London.
