Andrea De Stefani No Way

For Andrea De Stefani the cognitive process is not amorphous matter. In No Way, his first solo show, the artist explores the instant in which our minds make a discovery.
If cognition is an articulated process, whose extent is determined by numerous factors (the specific subject of the investigation, therelationship between an object and the space, the specificity of the same space and, last but not least, the subjectivity of the process), an attempt to reproduce this experience depends on the disposal of a ‘favourable climate’ in which it can be reproduced as an image in its entirety.
The ambience that De Stefani presents in this show, follows the form of a ‘hand to hand’ confrontation between the artist and a series of elements, mutated from a familiar landscape.
Indeed, at the origin of this research is a personal form of observation, which could be likened to meditation, with the finality of dissecting the landscape. Through this practise, the artist individualises ordinary, recurring forms, which by a process of removal and addition determine the nature and physical boundaries of the works.
These structures, emerging in total white, underlining the detachment from reality and a process of idealisation which is very closeto the one elaborated by the mind.
