Performance by Melodie Mousset and Zachary Sharrin

Parallel to Trouble Rainbow, the exhibition of artists Claudia Comte (who completed her residency at the ISR last July), Athene Galiciadis and Melodie Mousset at Marie-Laure Fleisch Gallery, on Thursday, October 6 the Istituto Svizzero di Roma presents a “non-improvised happening”, a multiform event that will consist of three main moments, but is conceived as a single event: an encounter with the artists and Valentina Sansone, curator at the ISR; the performance Paranormal with our Body by Melodie Mousset and Zachary Sharrin (artist and choreographer working in Los Angeles); the book launch of Trouble Rainbow, published on the occasion of the exhibition in Rome by Nero (in collaboration with Marie Laure Fleisch Gallery), that continues its collaboration with the ISR begun in 2010.

Following a practice that is becoming more and more widespread amongst the young Swiss generations, the event cancels out the roles and parameters typical of the art system and generates a crisis in the viewer, failing his/her expectations.

Comte, Galiciadis and Mousset share the same academic background having studied at the ECAL (École Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne) and also share a common interest for the study of decorative arts –patterns, geometric motifs and abstract forms. Together they realize environments in which painting, sculpture and performance predominate: sceneries that are enriched by narrative elements like the imaginary rituals arising from the representation of a single immaterial entity able to assimilate the distinctive personalities of the three artists.
