THE REVERSE GRAND TOUR Valerio Rocco Orlando
June 9, 27, 28, 2012
In his ongoing project THE REVERSE GRAND TOUR Valerio Rocco Orlando analyzes how context and relationships influence an artist’s practice today, through a cycle of conversations with artists of different nationalities living in the foreign academies in Rome. In addition to an articulate series of videos and photographs, Valerio Rocco Orlando invited some of the artists he met during his travelling residency around the city to leave their studios and join him in small groups for a series of PROMENADES at sunset in the park of Villa Borghese, a place historically known for meetings and conversations between Grand Tourists in Rome. In this way one of the phases of the artist?s research is revealed, always in the between an intimate portrait and a choral dialogue.
A cycle of three PROMENADES will be conducted by the artist in June in Rome, in collaboration with the Romanian Academy for Spazi Aperti X and with Macro for Re-generation.
