The VIVA – Performance Lab Festival at Cosenza
The social and political denunciation of Tania Bruguera, the irony and the grotesque reality of Yoshua Okón, the individual and collective identity by Adrian Paci, Núria Güell and the tactics of disturbance, the paradoxical situations of Cesare Pietroiusti, Minerva Cuevas’s guerrilla communication, the magical reality of Francesca Grilli and the subversion of communication’s codes by Aníbal López. There are eight international artists protagonists of VIVA | Performance Lab, a festival conceived by MAXXI Arte and curated by the artist Tania Bruguera and the curator and critic Cristiana Perrella.
Together with them MaraM (Naples, 1979), Alessandro Fonte e Shawnette Poe (Polistena-RC, 1984, Warsaw, 1980), Luca Pucci (Assisi, 1984), Franco Ariaudo (Cuneo, 1979), Ioana Paun (Cluj-Napoca, 1984), Diego Cibelli (Naples, 1987), Leonardo Zaccone (Rome, 1978) Letizia Calori & (Bologna, 1986) Violette Maillard (Bourg La Reine, 1984): 8 artists under 35 chosen through an international call to participate in a workshop on the performance (1 – 7 December 2012) with Cristiana Perrella and Tania Bruguera. At the end of their training, their actions will be included with the program of the festival.
VIVA Performance Lab is a festival devoted to performance and born out of the collaboration between the municipality of Cosenza, MAXXI and the University of Calabria, which will animate the historic city centre of Cosenza on 8 and 9 December.
There are diverse facets to the event: educational and training activities in the local area, the workshop for young artists (1-7 December) and the festival itself (8-9 December).
