The sixth event of Rainforest is on March 15, h.22 at Dal Verme, in via luchino dal verme 8, Rome, and will include performances by FYOLEK and MOEMLIEN.

FYOELK and MOEMLIEN are respectively Johann Kauth and Hannah Giese, better  known together as the duo HALLO GALLO. Starting with Amsterdam, these two have taken to invading the most crooked corners of European underground by means of drawings, fanzines and obscure installations. With their label Stenze Quo, they have published cdr and tapes for people like Dolphins Into the Future, Dreamers Cloth, and whatever they found to have “positive vibes”. When they make music, they split into two uncoordinated entities originating from some lunar land, confused by the craters of its hidden face.

RAINFOREST LIVE #04 – Gary War | Intellectuals – November 19 at Muzak

Rainforest is a web column of Nero, and also a gathering that happens every once in a while in Rome curated by Francesco de Figueiredo and Valerio Mattioli. For each event  a limited edition zine by RAWRAW ed. is released, containing material by the same bands that will perform that night. The third event of Rainforest is on November 19, h.22 at Muzak (ex Metaverso), in Via di Monte Testaccio 38, Rome, and will include performances by Gary War and the Intellctuals.
Gary War, or of the art of flanger. He comes from New York, he cut his eyeteeth in Ariel Pink’s band, he recorded for Sacred Bones, Captured Tracks and Holidays. Now he lands in Rome confused like in the same fog released by his records, a sort of  evaporating foam made of bubblings and reverberations. Believe it or not, he makes rock ‘n’ roll.
The Intellectuals are around from more than a decade, they cut records for mythological Hate label, they basically played everywhere and the new album was recorded in London Toe Rag Studios. If you think that Jay Retard’s death was a fortune because he gave his best with the Lost Sounds, the Intellectuals are your band, dot.

RAINFOREST LIVE #03 – Demons| Sick LLama + dj set + Zine – November 2 at Fanfulla 101

Rainforest is a web column of Nero, and also a gathering that happens every once in a while in Rome curated by Francesco de Figueiredo and Valerio Mattioli. For each event  a limited edition zine by RAWRAW ed. is released, containing material by the same bands that will perform that night. The third event of Rainforest is on November 2, h.22 at Fanfulla 101, in Via Fanfulla da Lodi 101, Rome, and will include performances by Demons and Sick LLama.

The Demons are Nate Young, Alivia Zivich and Steve Kenney. They make laboratory experiments for machine and moving image. On one side Young and Kenney bent on their antediluvian synths from which they draw cosmic spirals, analog black holes and radical psychedelia; on the other side, Alivia projects on the screen bizarre images in perfect art-brut tradition. Sick Llama, Heath Moerland’s noise punk project from Michigan, will open the gig. Moerland plays tapes, clarinet and anything else that comes his way. Since 2003 he has published for labels such as American Tapes, Hanson, Gods of Tundra and Chondritic Sound. With his own label Fag Tapes, Moerland released around 250 issues and shows no signs of stopping.

Alivia Zivich’s work is included in Post Tv – Lo-Fi for the Eyes screening – November 4 – Teatro Studio – Auditorium Parco della Musica.

As you know Rainforest is a web column of Nero, but even a gathering that happens every once in a while in Rome curated by Francesco de Figueiredo and Valerio Mattioli. It deals with strange, weird, crooked and noisy sounds, from postnoise to new age punk to freak psychedelia to hypna-dance: tons of pedals, bent people howling into microphones, pagan rituals, intestinal ulcers… To each event is related a limited edition zine by RAWRAW ed., from the same bands that will perform that night. The name of the zine is, of course, Rainforest. The second event is on September 19, h.19 at Motelsalieri – Via Giovanni Lanza 162, Rome, and it will include performances by Burial Hex and H in Tahiti.
