Maxximalism, la rassegna curata da Nero al Maxxi di Roma, si è conclusa con un evento speciale.
Lo scrittore Matt Connor, l'artista e video maker Oliver Payne e Brian DeGraw, artista visivo e membro fondatore di Gang Gang Dance, hanno presentato "Live Forever", progetto commissionato per l'occasione dai curatori e assolutamente inedito.
Il risultato, uno spoken word fuori dagli schemi, una improvvisazione musicale fusa con naturalezza al film e alla parola.
Koudlam, Zongamin, Omar Souleyman e Mike Bones: ogni artista ha interpretato il Maxxi a modo suo, offrendone di volta in volta una visione diversa.
"Live Forever" ha in qualche modo citato e completato le interpretazioni precedenti, in un omaggio poetico ispirato alla musica come memoria e mitologia privata che chiude Maxximalism nel modo più bello che potessimo immaginare.

INTRODUCING MAXXIMALISM: EYE OF THE BEHOLDER
Michele Manfellotto, autore della rubrica di Nero Heaven Is Knowing Who You Are, ha cominciato una raccolta di materiale video e fotografico relativo a tutti gli eventi di Maxximalism.
Il progetto, provvisoriamente intitolato Eye Of The Beholder, mira alla composizione di un’opera collettiva, un montaggio di frammenti girati dal pubblico con apparecchi di uso quotidiano, dalle videocamere ai telefoni cellulari, rovesciando il punto di osservazione e privilegiando la descrizione dell’esperienza individuale rispetto alla registrazione pura e semplice dell’evento.
Non si tratta insomma di produrre un documentario, piuttosto un cut-up visivo e sonoro di punti di vista personali sulle nuove forme che ha assunto nel ventunesimo secolo il rito immortale del concerto.

Maxximalism summer music shows curated by Nero at Maxxi in Rome have ended with a special event.
Writer Matt Connor, artist and video maker Oliver Payne, and Brian DeGraw, visual artist and founding member of Gang Gang Dance, have introduced "Live Forever", a project commissioned by the curators to be performed on this occasion for the first time.
The result, a spoken text completely outside the norms, a musical improvisation naturally blended with films and words.
Koudlam, Zongamin, Omar Souleyman and Mike Bones: each artist has given his interpretation of the Maxxi space, offering a different vision every time.
"Live Forever" has in some way summarised these previous interpretations, in a poetic homage to music as memory and private mythology that ends Maxximalism in the best way we could imagine.
Michele Manfellotto, author of the Nero column Heaven Is Knowing Who You Are, is collecting photo and video footage related to all Maxximalism events.
Eye Of The Beholder, as the project is provisionally titled, aims at the composition of a collective body of work through the editing of material filmed by the audience with daily use devices, such as digital cameras or simply mobile phones. The intention is to reverse the point of view and foreground the description of individual experience, instead of simply recording the event.
It’s not about making a documentary, but rather creating an audio-visual cut-up of individual outlooks on the new forms the concert has assumed in the 21st Century as an immortal ritual.
